Nick Board - Director

Nick Board is the Director & Head Coach of Topspin Tennis. Nick has represented Gippsland at junior & senior level. After a successful junior career, in which he was a top Australian junior Nick completed a Diploma of Sport Coaching & Diploma of Tennis Coaching. He has been coaching for the last 15 years and has managed some of the largest tennis facilities in Melbourne. Nick has been fortunate enough to work with lots of different coaches. Nick has also had playing and coaching experience in the USA and is also a USPTA qualified coach. Nick is a TCAV Advanced Coach and also a qualified fitness trainer. Nick received the Tennis Victoria Coach of the Year award for 2007.

Rhett Nelson—Coach & Restringing

Rhett has been working full time with Topspin Tennis for the past 3 years and in that time has completed a Level 1 tennis coaching course, certificate 3 in recreation and also an AFL sports based apprenticeship. Rhett is a past club champion of the Stratford Tennis Club and has won numerous junior titles around Gippsland. Rhett is currently completing his advanced coaching qualification and is also training to be a personal trainer. Rhett works with players of all ages and levels and also organizes the Friday & Monday night tennis competitions. When he is not on court you can always find Rhett in the pro shop where he restrings racquets.

John Christmas

John has recently joined Topspin Tennis after a long career as a tennis coach. John has been a full time tennis coach for the past 28 years and in that time he has been, head coach at John Newcombe Tennis Ranch and worked with coaches such a Norm Cahill and Tony Roche. John was the director of his own tennis coaching business in Melbourne for many years before deciding on a sea change and moved to Golden Beach. We are very fortunate to have him and he brings a lot of enthusiasm to every lesson.

Abe Schuback

Abe has been working with Topspin Tennis for the past 2 years and has plenty of knowledge and experience to pass on to junior players. Abe is the current Sale Tennis Club Champion and has won the SHTA Championship, Abe also won the Gippsland Singles Title 2 years in a row. Abe works with junior groups and also works with our Peewee program on saturday mornings, Abe also works as a hire a hitting partner for adults who want a really good hit out.

Merryn Griffiths— Pro Shop & Restringing

Merryn has recently joined the Topspin team and works in the office and pro shop, organising the coaching groups and restringing racquets. Merryn is also in charge of promotions and the day to day running of the business. She is in charge of getting all players and coaches on court and working together

Krystal Rawnson— Coaching, Pro Shop & Restringing

Krystal has recently moved to Melbourne to further her studies and is playing Grade 1 pennant there. Krystal's background in tennis makes her a valuable member of the Topspin team. Krystal continues her work with us during the holidays conducting junior clinics and camps.

Tom Wilson - Beginner coach & Competition Co-ordinator

Tom started with Topspin Tennis in 2008 and currently is the face of the junior twilight competition. Tom plays in points tournaments all over Victoria and is part of Topspin Tennis GOAT squad which travels to these tournaments. After doing work experience with us he has now been employed as a trainee coach and also works with Rhett with Saturday morning beginner coaching and co-ordinating competitions.
